ਫਰਮਾ:s. m A red coloured thread
- a species of very small green colouredinsect which spoils vines. A disease ofcrops. It is said to attack all crops,but especially tobacco and melons in ਫਰਮਾ:Jeṭh,wheat and ਫਰਮਾ:ság (greens) in ਫਰਮਾ:Poh and ਫਰਮਾ:Mágh,juwár, til, chaṉá, cotton, ਫਰਮਾ:múṇg, máṇh inਫਰਮਾ:Assú and ਫਰਮਾ:Kátak Wheat is not, however,injured by it
- generally the plant attacked dries up, and an oily liquid isfound on it. This is caused by a smallyellow winged insect. The only remedyis rain which is supposed to wash off theoil
- a blight on sugarcane which appearslike dark powder.
