ਫਰਮਾ:s. m A plant (ਫਰਮਾ:Capparisspinosa, Nat. Ord. ਫਰਮਾ:Capparideæ) whichin Europe furnishes the caper, generally grows in the Panjab, in brightgreen tufts hanging down from theclefts of the rocks, and adorned with avery handsome large flower. It is foundnear Multan, in the Salt Range, along theTrans-Indus hills to Peshawar, and inthe valley of some of the great rivers.The ripe fruit is made into pickles bythe natives of the Salt Range, but insome places eaten only by Hindus. Thebuds, if prepared in the European style ascapers, are found first rate. They are eatenby goats and sheep, and in Kangra theroots are said to be applied to sores.
